SOAR Vancouver

SOAR Vancouver

Overview

Orientation

Be prepared. Your SOAR experience begins with three days of spiritual formation, team building, and ministry training.

Assignment

Be hands-on. Use your gifts to show God’s love as you serve. Your team will be partnered with a local church or ministry, and you will have the opportunity to participate in community transformation.

Debrief

Be mentored. This is a time to rest, worship, and reflect on your experiences. We’ll help you process what you learned, and prepare you to re-enter your home church as you continue living out God’s call on your everyday life.

Orientation

Pre-Program Training

  • Team Training Lessons

Once accepted, you will receive training lessons to work through individually and as a team. These lessons will help you and your team prepare for your mission trip by identifying expectations, developing a Team Mission Statement, teaching you how to share the gospel, and learning about Vancouver and it’s multi-cultural personality.

  • Individual Training: Next Mile Goer Guide

Once accepted, each participant will receive A Next Mile Goer Guide. MB Mission has teamed up with The Next Mile, a resource organization that helps lay the foundation and follow-through of your mission trip. The purpose of this Guide is to help you prepare and unpack your experience so that you can discern God's leading for your future. As part of the material, each participant must find a mentor and meet with them before and after their trip.

On-Program Training

The first 3 days of your SOAR Vancouver experience will be a time of intentional discipleship training.  As we teach about important discipleship themes, our prayer is that your relationship with Jesus will be taken to the next level.  It's out of our relationship with Jesus that we can do ministry.  So, the first few days of the program will be filled with great teaching, big-group worship, Bible study, prayer and lots of time interacting with the SOAR community.

Assignment

This is the heartbeat of SOAR. The Ministry Assignments are designed for each team to work alongside an already established ministry or church. Prior to SOAR, we connect each team leader with the church/ministry leader, to discuss the ministry opportunity in greater detail.

Debrief

How you end a team ministry assignment significantly influences how you remember your entire experience. Before returning home, two days are taken to provide a time to rest, rejuvenate, process, and celebrate what God has done.  Emphasis is placed on bringing closure to your experiences and affirming principles and commitments that can be transferred to your own communities.
