“Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus.”
Paul was clear on his source of authority and his primary contribution to the mission of God. He was an apostle of Christ Jesus. Paul’s encounter with the resurrected Christ on the Damascus road confronted him with a source of authority greater than the high priest in Jerusalem whose letters of commission he was carrying for the synagogues of Damascus. At this encounter, Paul was called by Jesus to be his apostle. This calling was by the will of God and came with the authority to preach the gospel and to pray for freedom, healing, and empowerment for those to whom he ministered. The commission Paul received from Christ Jesus took him to many cities, including Ephesus.
Are we clear on our calling and commission from God?
Once we know whose we are and our best contribution to Christ’s kingdom, we, too will be a blessing to the faithful in Christ Jesus.
“Lord Jesus, thank you for calling me to serve you and your people, for your glory.”
