Our Father’s Children

Today's Life Journal Bible readingDeuteronomy 22-24; Galatians 4

“But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out ‘Abba Father.’ So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.’” Galatians 4:4-7

To be a son or daughter of our heavenly Father enables us to receive the full rights of being part of his family. Are we living in the fullness of this blessing and inheritance? Father God sent the Spirit of his Son, the same Spirit that rested upon Jesus at his baptism, to enter the hearts of those who know him, to seal our inheritance. We belong to the Father. Do we know the peace, the intimacy, the authority, and the freedom of walking in the Father’s love? This inheritance does not begin when we get to heaven; it begins when we enter God’s family. If we are still living as slaves to sin, we must ask whether we are really born again. The Father’s invitation to us is to experience his life now.

“Father God, thank you for sending the Holy Spirit and filling my life with your peace, love, and presence, for your glory.”
