“Prepare me the kind of tasty food I like and bring it to me to eat, so that I may give you my blessing before I die.”
Why was this blessing by Isaac to his son so important?
God’s desire is to bless us and release his prophetic purposes for our lives. God still uses our families and the Church to communicate those words of blessing to us; however, we now have the Spirit of God and the Bible to hear and receive those words directly. God honors his Word to us and he fulfills his promises. Jacob needed to hear this blessing from Isaac, just as Isaac heard the blessing from Abraham. This word of blessing was then reinforced by the dream of a stairway to heaven that Jacob received soon afterward. We were created to live within the blessing of God and to be a people that receive a blessing so that we can be a blessing to others. We are still calling all nations to hear and respond to God’s blessing to us in Christ.
“Lord Jesus, you are the fulfillment of God’s promise to bless all nations with salvation. Thank you for blessing me with life so I can share this blessing with others.”
