God is inviting you to step out in faith and go to new places with Him. Some of those places might be exotic destinations around the globe, but many more will be unexplored places of the heart.

June 26 - August 4, 2019

ACTION Midwest is a five-week discipleship training and cross-cultural mission program. Prepare to experience God’s missional heart with passionate people that are prepared to sacrifice much to see God’s love transform their world. You will be teamed up with people from across North America and serve alongside long-term missionaries worldwide. Your adventure starts with a 5-day Training that is packed with spiritual formation, team building and mission training. During your 3-week Ministry Assignment you will participate in community transformation through intercessory prayer, creative outreach and compassion initiatives. Following your cross-cultural assignment, teams will regroup in Kansas to debrief experiences and prepare to live the mission back home.

Join us this summer and let Jesus take you to deeper places around the world and in your heart!

take action

Training is critical to effective short term missions. Participants will be challenged in spiritual formation and mission training with our resource staff who invest their experience into the participants lives. Common themes include intimacy with Jesus, healthy teams, following the Holy Spirit, serving with humility, and walking cross-culturally. Your relationship with God, your team, and mission will be shaped forever during this time.

Training happens at Oasis Retreat Center, just outside Hutchinson, Kansas.

Travel in a team of 4-6 and use your gifts to show God’s love. You will serve with long-term missionaries or national church leaders as you join in God’s ministry and participate in community transformation. Whether you serve in children’s or youth ministry, evangelistic outreaches, teaching English, or work with your hands, you will make an impact in people’s lives and experience the global body of Christ.

Your experiences on ACTION will likely be more than you could have ever experienced in the same time frame at home. Debrief is a time to rest, recover, and process these experiences. Back at Oasis Retreat Center, you will celebrate what God has done in your life and in the lives of others during the mission, helping bring closure to your experiences and affirming principles and commitments that can be carried on to your home community.

Potential Assignment Locations

Zaporozhe, Ukraine

The Mennonite Brethren denomination has its roots in this region of central Ukraine, but by mid-1900's these churches lay vacant after their members were dispersed by political storm into North and South America. But after the collapse of the Soviet Union, a fresh wave of Christian mission was able to return to Ukraine to plant new churches and support those who had patiently endured persecution. Today, 6 MB churches and 4 church plants form the Association of MB Churches in Ukraine (AMBCU). We work with the AMBCU to help establishing healthy and missional churches and give leadership to the New Hope Center, which provides mentor-led group homes for at-risk orphans, family services and job training. Through these ministries, a people group beaten down by civil war, poverty, and fatherlessness are finding new hope in Christ and his unfailing love.

The ACTION Team will be coming alongside these churches under the leadership of Max and Anya Oliferovski (MB Mission Ukraine leaders) to provide summer camps for children, youth and families. Learn about one of these camps and programs, DreamKidz. Learn about our work in Ukraine here

After over 400 years of conflict between the Tutsi and Hutu tribes, a treaty between the warring tribes in 2000 has yielded much peace for Burundi. However, Burundi remains one of the world's poorest nations, with the vast majority of people living below the poverty line. MB Mission workers in Burundi are working with the Batwa people - a Pygmy group that is socially marginalized and oppressed - by sharing the Good News and meeting physical needs.
